older French oak.
This is an elegant wine, finely balanced
with a bright ruby color, and a delicate nose that
possesses lovely fresh fruit and floral aromas. The
'in the mouth feel' is subtle and provocative with
flavors of cherry and raspberry, the texture is rich,

This is our third vintage. Produced in limited quantity of
450 cases, this offering is a site specific blend of clones
2A, 115, 667, and 777 from our Rio Vista Vineyard. The fruit
was de-stemed, crushed, and barreled down in 40% new French
oak, and 60% older French oak for 18 months and then bottle
aged since April 2009,
Luxuriant dark ruby color, fresh fruit aromas, bright and
brilliant flavor, this elegant wine is smooth yet well focused.
With in the mouth flavors of earthy raspberry and cherry,
the texture is rich followed by a pleasant finish that is
subtle and satisfying.
Once again a blend of the three signature clones from the
vineyard, the 2006 estate Pinot Noir includes clones 115,
777 and 2A. The resulting wine speaks to the terroir of this
gateway vineyard to the acclaimed Sta. Rita Hills.
This
elegant wine possesses fresh, bright red fruit aromas of cherry
and raspberry, with subtle floral aromas of rose petal and
geranium while forest floor, sage and provocative spice add
complexity. In the mouth, delicate flavors of Bing cherry,
strawberry and cranberry are followed by a hint of vanilla,
cinnamon and dried herbs. This is a very feminine Pinot Noir
with a delicate red color, beautiful acidity and a generous
mouth feel.
The Thorne Pinot Noir 2005, Rio Vista Vineyard,
Sta. Rita Hills is our first vintage. Produced in limited
quantity, 425 cases, this offering represents a site specific
blend of clones 2A, 115, and 777. The 2005 harvest was larger
than normal as a result of heavy rains in the winter months
followed by an atypical warm spell in August and September.
Each clone was de-stemmed, pressed and fermented separately
in new and older French Oak barrels with minimum intervention
for seventeen months. The resulting wine is an expression
of the unique soils, climate and farming of our vineyard in
the Sta. Rita Hills Appellation. 425 cases were produced.
Supple and well focused, with pleasant earthy raspberry,
anise and spice aromas followed by tightly wound cherry and
mineral flavors that finish with lingering tannins. Drink
now through 2011. 425 cases made. Wine Spectator
